Supporting children and young people with disability requires a special level of care, trust and accountability. At Top Disability Care Australia, we take this responsibility seriously — delivering services that prioritise safety, dignity and genuine connection for every child in our care.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

Top Disability Care Australia is a registered Child Safe Organisation. This means we have embedded child safety into every part of how we operate — from recruitment and training to daily care practices and reporting.

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. Every team member undergoes rigorous screening, including NDIS Worker Screening Checks and Working With Children Checks, before they are permitted to work with children. Our staff receive ongoing training in child protection, trauma-informed care and the specific needs of children living with a disability.

Being child safe is not just a policy — it is a culture we actively build and maintain across our organisation.

Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC)

One of the key ways we support children is through Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC). SSRC provides overnight respite care and residential support for children outside the family home, regulated by the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian under the Children's Guardian Act 2019.

Our SSRC services include:

  • Emergency overnight placements when families need urgent support
  • Regular respite stays giving children a positive experience and carers a much-needed break
  • Longer-term overnight care for children who require extended support
  • NDIS-funded behaviour support programs delivered in a safe residential setting

Every placement is recorded on the SSRC Register and managed in full compliance with the SSRC Code of Practice. We work closely with families to develop individualised care plans that address each child's unique needs, preferences and goals.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Many providers offer disability services, but supporting children requires a distinct approach. Here is what sets Top Disability Care Australia apart when it comes to working with young people:

We listen to children. Every child has a voice, and we create an environment where they feel safe to express their needs, concerns and wishes. Our staff are trained to engage with children at their level and build genuine trust.

We work with families. Parents and carers know their children best. We maintain open, transparent communication with families throughout every placement, keeping them informed and involved in care decisions.

We invest in our people. The quality of care a child receives is only as good as the people delivering it. We invest heavily in recruiting the right staff — people who are not only qualified but genuinely passionate about working with children — and we provide them with continuous professional development.

We are accountable. As a registered provider with the Office of the Children's Guardian, we are subject to regulatory oversight and hold ourselves to the highest standards. We welcome this accountability because it drives us to continually improve.

Creating a Safe and Nurturing Environment

Children in our care live in environments that are designed to feel like home. Our properties are comfortable, well-maintained and set up to support the specific needs of the children who stay with them. We focus on creating routines and activities that are enriching, fun and developmentally appropriate.

Whether a child is with us for a single night of respite or an extended stay, our goal is the same — to provide an experience that is safe, positive and supportive of their growth and wellbeing.
