How do I apply for the NDIS?

What is a support coordinator?

They can help you find services, negotiate agreements, resolve issues and prepare for plan reviews. Support coordination is a valuable resource, especially if you are new to the NDIS.

How is my NDIS funding managed?

Your NDIS funding can be managed in three ways: NDIA managed (the NDIA pays your providers directly and you choose from registered providers), plan managed (a registered plan manager handles invoices and payments, giving you access to both registered and unregistered providers), or self-managed (you manage your own funding, pay providers yourself and keep your own records). You can also use a combination of these options.

Can I change my NDIS provider?

Yes. You have the right to choose and change your NDIS providers at any time. If your current provider is not meeting your needs or you are not happy with the service you are receiving, you can switch to a different provider. There are no lock-in contracts with Top Disability Care Australia — we believe you should stay because you want to, not because you have to.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that helps people with disabilities live as independently as possible in shared or individual living arrangements. Support workers are available around the clock to assist with daily living tasks, personal care, community access and skill-building activities. What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is purpose-built or significantly modified housing funded through the NDIS for participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA homes are designed to support independence, safety and comfort. Top Disability Care Australia provides SDA-enrolled homes across the Parramatta and Strathfield areas of Sydney.

Does the NDIS fund home modifications?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the NDIS can fund reasonable and necessary modifications to your primary residence. This may include ramps, handrails, bathroom modifications, doorway widening, kitchen modifications, lifting platforms and other changes that help you live more independently and safely at home. Your occupational therapist can assess your home and recommend the modifications you need.

Is transport covered under the NDIS?

The NDIS can fund transport assistance when public transport is inaccessible to you due to your disability. This may include funding for taxis or other transport services. The NDIS can also fund support to help you build confidence and independence in using public transport or obtaining a driver's licence. Can my family be involved in my NDIS plan?

What happens during an NDIS plan review?

An NDIS plan review is an opportunity to assess how your current plan is working, discuss your progress towards your goals and make any changes needed for the next plan period. You can request a plan review at any time if your circumstances change. Your support coordinator and providers can help you prepare by documenting your achievements and identifying any new or changed support needs.
